Logged on tonight and the server had nine people, which felt like a crowd these days. Still no one on side chat, but that's been dead for a while. The three-day outage is what I keep coming back to when I try to explain why everyone drifted. Green Mountain dare was before my time but I wish I'd been around for that.

Nine people is a crowd now. I heard about the barn loot night afterwards, and people were still talking about it a week later. I wasn't there for the crossroads man either, but I remember the thread where someone finally just waved. That sort of thing is why I don't think the outage is the real reason. The quiet started long before that, we just didn't want to say it. I still go up to the airfield sometimes and it's empty in a way it never was. I keep checking the player list at 2am and it is the same few names. I don't know what we're waiting for.

Barn olot night was the last time I can recall the server feeling busy without anyone having to say it. I was around for the single can of beans too, but only from the outside — still don't know who laughed first. You're right about the player list. I keep expecting one more name to show up and it never does.

we drove up to Green Mountain as a group once, all of us, just to see. There was fog part of the way up and everyone went quiet when the tower showed. we stood around waiting for something and nothing did, then we drove back down. i still think about that trip more than most of the firefights. I don't know why that one stuck.

Doc_Mallory, I only heard about that Green Mountain trip afterwards, but it got told more times than the first NWAF run and I wasn't there for that either. The tower coming out of the fog is the part everyone lands on. I've sat in the treeline at 2am and watched that tower do nothing for half an hour. It never does. The closest thing I can compare it to is the UAZ near Pustoshka — someone stashed it in the trees and came back a week later to empty space, no tracks, no explanation. People keep telling that one too. I still drive out to both places sometimes. I keep going back anyway.
