Green Mountain was always the place you went to get picked off if you got sloppy. I was never around for the crossroads guy myself, just heard about him after. Somebody said he stood at the intersection and waved instead of shooting. I still don't know if that was real or just the server messing with people. The old drive is probably the best record we have left of that whole stretch. It's strange how much of it depends on one hard drive now. Keep it safe, Tinman.

rye_, I've watched that clip more times than I can count. I wasn't up there that day, so I can't say what it was like from the back. But the Ural going down the hill, the engine sound, then that long crackle before it stops — I know it by heart. It's the same way I know about the bus with no windscreen. I wasn't there either, but everyone talked about it enough that it's still with me. That's what the old drive is now. Keep it safe. I think that's all we have left.

Found the drive in a drawer this week, still labelled with duct tape. The Green Mountain footage is there, all of us standing around the tower like we expected something to come out of it. And the Pustoshka UAZ clip — first frame the engine is still running, which I didn't remember until tonight. Funny the order things survive in.

I watched the Green Mountain clip twice last night. I'd forgotten how quiet it was — nobody saying much, all of us watching the treeline. It was overcast that day, I remembered that as soon as the first frame came up. The clip cuts off before the way back. Thanks for finding the drive, Kasper.
