why is everyone suddenly on standalone

Post by Sam_ »

DayZ Commander just stopped doing anything for me last night, sat there trying to push an update and nothing. It kind of reminded me of the trhee day outage, except that one at least had mox posting updates every few hours. People still bring up the crossroads man in passing and I always catch myself wondering what that actually looked like from the hill.

commander just sat there with the little spniner doing nothing for about an hour last night. i gave up and closed it and didn't really miss being in the server. still think about the single can of beans more than most of the actual raids.

Commander just sitting there spinning took me back to the AS50 in the north barracks. Forty seconds between finding it and the whole thing being over. It has that same feeling of waiting for the game to catch up to what already happened. I closed it and stood in the dark kitchen for a bit. The lights were off and the modem was blinking.

just read this whole thread, busy weekend so i'm only catching up now. commander did the same for me friday night, watched the spinner for a whole cup of tea before giving up. i was theer for the beans and the rotten meat and those two still stick with me whenever something else breaks.

HarrisonB, that green mountain thread is the one I keep going back to as well. I was around for the three day outage and it had the same long wait feeling, just refreshing the forum and nothing moving. The AS50 thing is a story to me, I only heard it later, but it still lands the same way. Last night I watched that spinner with the heating on full

Sam_, the heating being on full last night is the detail that got me. I watched the same spinner for an hour before I closed it. It's not that I wanted to be in the server. It was the habit of it, the thnig you do without thinking. The beans story still does that to me, the way a whole base gets down to one can and that's the part nobody lets go of. The tent camp despawn was the heavier one and I wasn't even there, just heard abotu it after, and it still felt like losing something I'd carried. Two months of gear gone and nobody could even prove it wasn't taken. The forum felt like that last night, all of us waitnig on a spinner that was never going to move. I closed the laptop and went to bed and that was the whole night.
