i wasn't here yet for the green mountain thing but i still read those old posts sometimes. rabbit's mic cutting out mid-sentence gets me every time. no idea why that story stuck with me so hard.

the walk up was so quiet i remember hearing the wind through the radio tower before we even crested the hill
rabbit cutting out was the least weird part of that whole afternoon honestly

man i miss everything. rye that wind detail is gonna stick with me the way hollis did, hearing about it all after the fact. same vibe as that single can of beans left in the raided base, nobody can explain it but everyone remembers it

Rabbit cutting out always makes me think of the kid on voice. Same thing — everyone stopped what they were doing and listened instead of shooting. Green Mountain stories are all like that, it's never the fight you remember. The beans can belongs in that category too, even if nobody can explain it.

Lithh, I wasn't there for rabbit either but I've read those threads enough times that it doesn't matter. I was the kind of player who heard about things the next day. I read the crossroads man thread at 1am and it's stayed with me longer than anything I actually did in game. Nobody knew who he was, he just stood at the same junction every week and never spoke, and eventually people started waving as they drove past. Same with the first Ural. rye_ finished it after three weeks of parts runs and took it out that night, alone, and never said where it went. The beans can is the same kind of thing. It doesn't need an explanation. It just has to have happened.
