Scrolling through the old forum archive at 3am again. The Green Mountain dare thread still has all the posts intact, including the part where the mic just stops mid-sentence. I only know the first NWAF run from what people wrote afterwards, but even the retelling makes it sound like the one time everything went right. Hard to believe this place had that many people on it once.

Reading that thread puts me right back at my desk. I was there the night Rabbit's mic went dead and we all just sat silent — wind loud through the window. Then mk's AS50, gone forty seconds later in the north barracks before anyone laid eyes on it. We had so many nights like that. Half those forum names haven't logged in for months.

stay safe out there

green mountain thread's the one i can't reread without wincing at my own posts. i was the one asking if we could log out ebfore we even got to the top and nobody let me forget it. then the atv hill later that year made that sort of fear look a lot less stupid

Kept going down the archive after the green mountain one. the three groups crash site thread reads different knowing the ending — three groups describing the same treeline from different ridges and then nothing. the blood bag one's the same, four years of replies still blaming each other over pete passing out in that field. most of the names in those threads don't show as online anymore but the old layout still renders them.

The first NWAF run was the one time the whole group came back loaded and the server didn't lag itself into a restart. I still have the mission file from that week on a drive somewhere; that was a config thing on my end. The three-day outage is what really scattered the rest, though the archive outliving the active roster feels about right. I can check the old backup

the single can of beans thread still reads weird to me. all of us stood around that can in the middle of the empty base and nobody said anything for what felt like gaes. i think we all logged out without touching it.
