What this site is
A publication about survival games and the servers that run them. Articles are informational. Nothing here is professional advice, and none of it is a warranty that anything will work on your system.
Technical articles, and the limits on them
The articles in The Lab describe real work on real machines, and the figures in them are measured rather than estimated. That is the standard the site holds itself to, and it is also the limit of what is being claimed.
A measurement is true of one machine, on one date, on one version. Following an article on your own server is at your own risk. Game servers, operating systems and hosting environments differ, and software versions move underneath a published article without warning.
Specifically: back up your data before following any instruction here that changes a configuration file, deletes anything, or reinstalls anything. If a command in an article destroys something you needed, that is on you, and the site accepts no liability for it.
Accuracy and corrections
Articles are written carefully and are still capable of being wrong. Where an error is found it is corrected on the page rather than removed. If you find one, tell us — that is the single most useful message this site receives.
Prices, patch details and version numbers are accurate as at the date of writing and are not maintained afterwards.

The writing, screenshots and terminal captures on this site are the site’s own work and may not be republished in full without permission. Quoting a paragraph with a link back is fine and always has been.
Game names, logos, artwork and trademarks belong to their respective owners and appear here for identification and commentary. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any game publisher or developer.
