SurviveTh3Dead

Arma 2 DayZ mod, survival servers, and the people who ran them

Privacy Policy

This page describes what this site collects and why. It is written to be read rather than to be skipped, and it is not legal advice.

Two different applications run on this domain and they behave differently, so they are described separately.

The site (surviveth3dead.com)

Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which articles are read. This sets cookies and sends Google your IP address, the page you are on, and general information about your browser and device. It is used in aggregate — to know that an article was read three thousand times, not to build a profile of you.

Advertising. This site carries, or intends to carry, third-party advertising including Google AdSense. Ad networks and their partners may set cookies and use device identifiers to select and measure ads, and in some configurations to personalise them. Google’s own description of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

What is not collected. There is no newsletter, no account system, no comment form and no tracking pixel from a social network. Nothing on this half of the domain asks you for your name or your email address, and nothing stores one.

The forum (surviveth3dead.com/forum)

The forum is phpBB and works like any forum. If you register, it stores the username, email address and password you supply, and the posts you write. If you log in, it sets a session cookie so you stay logged in. If you never register, it still sets a short-lived session cookie so the software can tell one visitor from another.

Registered users can view and edit their own data, and can request deletion, from within their profile or by email.

Cookies, and how to say no

Between them, the two applications set:

  • Analytics cookies, from Google Analytics
  • Advertising cookies, where advertising is served
  • Session cookies, from the forum software

Every browser can block or delete cookies, and blocking analytics and advertising cookies does not break anything on this site — the articles read exactly the same. Google’s opt-out for personalised advertising is at adssettings.google.com.

Your rights

You may ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Ask on Discord, or by email — see Contact — and say which. For forum accounts, include the username.

Data is not sold. It is not traded. There is nothing to sell — the site does not build mailing lists or user profiles.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has registered on the forum, get in touch via Contact and the account will be removed.

Changes

If this policy changes, the change is made on this page and the date below is updated. There is no notification, because there is no mailing list to notify.
