Palworld 1.0.3 Patch Notes: Jetragon Unlock Drops to 70, Oil Gets Faster

The Palworld 1.0.3 patch notes just dropped from Pocketpair, and I’ve been waiting for this one. Not because of the bug fixes — those are always welcome — but because this patch actually touches progression in a way that feels meaningful. Jetragon-related tech shifting from level 79 to 70 is a big deal for anyone who’s been grinding toward the endgame. And the crude oil changes? Those hit right where base-building pain lives.

My first reaction is relief. Relief that Jetragon is no longer locked behind a level that felt like a wall for players who just wanted to ride the fastest Pal in the game. Relief that the World Tree Holy Water, which was basically dead weight before, is now useful and plentiful. And honestly, relief that Pocketpair is still paying attention to the middle of the game, not just the shiny endgame raids. The patch notes are a dry read, but the changes underneath feel like they were made by someone who actually plays Palworld.

What caught me first was the Jetragon unlock change. Level 79 was a slog. Dropping it to 70 means you can get your hands on Jetragon tech nine levels earlier, and the ride gear materials are cheaper too. That’s not just a number tweak — it changes when you start planning your late-game exploration. The Aquatic Construction Kit moving from level 66 to 23 is even wilder. That’s a mid-game item suddenly available way earlier, and the Ancient Technology Point cost dropping from 4 to 1 makes it almost free. I’m genuinely curious how that shifts base building near water.

And then there’s World Tree Holy Water. Before this patch, it weighed 1 and lasted a short time. Now it weighs 0.1 and lasts longer. But the real change is how you get it: added to World Tree expeditions, fishing, the Large Fishing Pond, and boosted from Pals and Teafant Spring. That’s a resource that went from tedious to abundant in one patch. I feel like I can actually use the stuff now instead of hoarding it for some hypothetical future.

What the patch actually changes

Here’s the rundown from the source. The patch starts with items and equipment. Jetragon-related technologies unlock at level 70 instead of 79, and the Pal Gear for riding Jetragon takes fewer materials. The Aquatic Construction Kit moves from level 66 to 23, its Ancient Technology Point cost drops from 4 to 1, and its materials and work amount are adjusted. World Tree Holy Water gets a longer duration, a weight reduction from 1 to 0.1, and new drop sources: World Tree expeditions, World Tree fishing, the Large Fishing Pond, Pals in the World Tree area, and Teafant Spring. Ancient Armor crafting work amount is adjusted, and Fiber from trees is doubled.

For bases and missions, the Crude Oil Extractor, High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor, and Large Power Generator all cost less to build. Both oil extractors produce crude oil faster. And the base mission that required a Crude Oil Extractor can now be completed with a High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor instead. That last one is a small quality-of-life fix that saves you from building a machine you might not need.

Server settings get a new option: bAllowEnemyCampSpawnNearBaseCamp. If enabled, enemy camps can spawn near player bases instead of being suppressed. That’s a toggle for people who want more chaos or more control. Graphics and display tweaks include better boundary visibility from a distance and improved object quality in dungeons. A sound effect was added for using World Tree Holy Water.

The bug fixes are extensive. A mission blocker in Sunreach is fixed — if you removed a barrier before accepting the main mission, it no longer breaks progression. Co-op lighting after cutscenes or the ending is fixed. Stuttering in the World Tree cutscene is fixed. Fast Travel no longer triggers accidentally during Tower Boss battles on dedicated servers. Pals no longer vibrate rapidly on client screens. Summoned Pals now keep fighting and helping with base work instead of stopping. Orserk’s Partner Skill effect display is fixed in multiplayer. Alpha Surfent now produces Leather at the Ranch.

Raid boss battles that failed to progress are fixed. Panthalus’s wave effect now matches its actual damage range. Stairs and slanted roofs place correctly, including on the sides of foundations and roofs. Moon Lord and Ultra Raid Boss reward settings are corrected. Item duplication via certain actions is fixed. Katress’s Partner Skill sphere-switching exploit is fixed. World Tree Holy Water effects display correctly on ridden Pals and no longer reappear after the effect ends. Desert expedition rewards are fixed. Dark Skill Fruit: Psycho Gravity now appears in item search. Sphere launchers have a proper firing interval.

UI fixes include fullscreen resolution applying correctly, window mode not reverting to fullscreen after loading, and screen blur when aiming with certain effects. Sound fixes cover Teafant Spring water sounds, Attack Chopper BGM playing from far away on dedicated servers, BGM range for Wanted players, and unintended footstep sounds on furniture. Control fixes address key assignment restore and unintended settings application. Map fixes remove a beach-like display after Fast Traveling to an offshore base.

What this means for players

For me, the headline is Jetragon at level 70. That’s a nine-level reduction, which is hours of grinding saved. If you’re mid-game and eyeing the endgame, this patch compresses the timeline. The Aquatic Construction Kit at level 23 is a sleeper change — water bases become viable much earlier, which changes where you might settle. And the World Tree Holy Water changes turn a niche buff into a regular part of your kit. Lower weight and longer duration mean you can carry it without thinking, and the new sources mean you’ll actually have it.

The crude oil buffs are the other big one. Faster production and cheaper buildings mean less waiting around for oil, which has been a bottleneck for late-game bases. The mission fix for the High-Pressure Extractor is a small thing, but it shows Pocketpair is listening to players who got stuck on a requirement that made no sense.

I’m watching for two things. First, does the Jetragon unlock at 70 feel too early? The ride gear materials were reduced, so maybe the balance is there. Second, the new server setting for enemy camps near bases could be a nightmare or a blast, depending on your playstyle. I’m hoping it’s off by default, because I don’t want a raid boss spawning on my oil extractors.

Overall, Palworld 1.0.3 feels like a patch that respects your time. It’s not flashy, but it smooths out the grind in exactly the places that were annoying. And the bug fixes — especially the summoned Pal AI and co-op lighting — are the kind of thing that makes the game feel less broken day to day. I’ll be logging in tonight to see how fast my oil extractors are now.
