The developers announced on August 27 that Myth of Empires: Throne Season 3, Era of the Shattered Seas, launches September 3 at 14:00 UTC. Character pre-creation opens August 31 at 14:00 UTC. I’ve been waiting for a reason to jump back in, and this is it.
I’ll be honest: the Boundary Marker changes are what got me. The anti-glider mechanic alone is huge. I’ve lost count of how many times a solo glider has dropped into my base, caused chaos, and vanished before I could react. Now they can’t even deploy a glider inside my territory, and the marker gets 10 free anti-air attacks a day. That’s going to change how I defend my guild’s land.
But the Shattered Isles map is the headline. A separate PvPvE map with boss rankings? That’s the kind of endgame content Myth of Empires has needed. I’m already thinking about which guilds on my server will dominate the damage rankings and how the Season Points will shake out.
What Season 3 actually brings
The new map, Shattered Isles, is a standalone gameplay area separate from the open world. It’s got one main island and three medium islands. You enter after reaching a required level to fight bosses and earn Season Points. Large bosses spawn at random times during designated periods. When multiple guilds challenge the same boss, they’re ranked by damage contribution, and the top three guilds get Season Points.
The map has a central PvP zone and surrounding PvE zones. You can build there, but no Boundary Markers or Territory Banners, and structures decay faster. If you’re not actively fighting, you can park large vehicles in the outer PvE zones to reduce risk. That’s a nice touch for solo players or small groups who still want to try the new content without getting immediately wiped.
The Skyshaker Cannon is the new siege weapon. It’s compact, deployable on land within a Boundary Marker’s coverage, or mountable on Battleships. It’s manually operated and uses two exclusive ammo types for different combat situations. I’m curious how it’ll compare to existing ballistas and whether it’ll become the new meta for base defense or naval fights.

Boundary Markers are getting a serious overhaul. When an enemy enters a certain range, the marker targets one enemy every 5 seconds and applies a continuous punishment effect. That’s on PvP servers only. Respawn rules change too: friendlies get shorter cooldowns, enemies get longer ones. Loot bags dropped in friendly territory that stay unclaimed for a long time automatically transfer to the Guild Depot. And as I mentioned, the anti-air defense against gliders is new: 10 attacks per day, resetting every 24 hours, with additional attacks purchasable for Copper Coins with no limit. Enemy players can’t deploy gliders inside your territory at all.
Arrow Towers get three new ammo types: Boiling Silver Whistling Arrows, Poison Whistling Arrows, and Paralyzing Whistling Arrows. Base damage is also increased. That’s a direct buff to base defense, which should make raiding more costly for attackers.
Battleships and Biremes get durability increases. Battleship building rules now match Air Fortresses, so structures aren’t restricted to the stern. Desert Ships get adjusted Heavy Ballista counts and durability. Kongming Lanterns get dedicated storage cabinets and decay rules matching Air Fortresses.
Two new Legendary Warriors are coming: Pang Tong, with farming and armor crafting abilities, and Diao Chan, who specializes in ranged combat. Five unique Seasonal Talents focus on Apocalypse Orbs, Fury Skills, vehicle combat, survival, and counterattacks. There’s also creature armor progression, Large Mount Breeding, and more Apocalypse Orb gameplay.
All five professions get combat skill balance adjustments. Quality-of-life stuff includes a “Repair Now” function for the Crafter’s Bench, Glider Stamina consumption changes, and Pandora’s Box placement limit adjustments.

What this means for players
Season 3 is a major update, not a minor patch. The new map alone gives high-level players a reason to log in and compete. The Boundary Marker changes directly address the solo harassment problem that’s plagued guild gameplay. If you’ve been on the fence about returning, September 3 is the date to watch.
I’m most excited about the anti-glider defense. It’s a quality-of-life change disguised as a new mechanic, and it’s going to make defending a base feel less like whack-a-mole. The Skyshaker Cannon is a wildcard—it could be overpowered or underwhelming, but at least it’s something new to experiment with.
Season 2 ends August 29 at 00:00 UTC, with a two-day seal period. Servers close August 31 at 00:00 UTC, pre-creation opens at 14:00 UTC that same day, and the new season launches September 3 at 14:00 UTC. The official update announcement will have more details on rewards, rules, and multipliers.
I’ll be there on day one. The Shattered Isles boss rankings are going to be a bloodbath, and I want to see how my guild stacks up.
