STALZONE’s Tulpa Season Adds Charge-Fire Sniper and a Harsh Economy Rework

EXBO posted the full patch notes for the Tulpa season on September 2, and I’ve been staring at the economy section longer than the new sniper rifle. The Capper sounds like a genuinely interesting weapon, but a 70% cut to Operations money rewards is the kind of change that makes me question how I’ve been playing STALZONE.

I’m not going to pretend the nerf doesn’t sting. Operations were my reliable income. Log in, run a few, bank some cash. Now that’s gone, and I’m supposed to wait until late September or early October for open-world events to get buffed? That’s a rough gap. The devs say it’s about fairness and risk-reward, and I get the logic, but it doesn’t make the next few weeks any easier.

What caught my eye first, though, is the Capper. A sniper rifle with a charge mechanic that lets you fire instantly for low damage or hold for up to 0.5 seconds to reach near-Gauss Rifle levels. At full charge, it also gets armor plate penetration. You’re slowed by 50% while charging, so it’s a trade-off. I can already see the ambush plays: charge behind cover, peek, delete someone. Or get caught mid-charge and die. That tension is the kind of thing that keeps me coming back to extraction shooters.

What the Tulpa season actually brings

The season is called “tulpa!” and it’s got an autumn theme. The Zone gets a visual overhaul with falling leaves, updated weather effects, and a palette shift to rusty tones. Weather conditions now include light and dense fog, light and heavy rain, and thunderstorms. It’s atmospheric, and I’m curious how fog affects PvP visibility in practice.

The Season Pass rewards got refreshed. The key rewards include the OTs-62, ALK-22 Dragonfly, Ratcatcher Exoarmor, Leper skin, Turmoil paint container, Amulet doll charm, All-Seeing Fishie charm, and a tulpa! customization pack. The main reward is the Capper, which I already covered. There’s also a new Season Special case with a K15 machine gun, CD-4 Armored Suit, Elbrus SRD, CRAW-6 Container, HK417, and FN SCAR-H.

The Season Pass menu got a UI update. You can switch between key rewards using cards in the top-right corner. Level progress and claim buttons moved around. It’s a quality-of-life change, not a game-changer.

Now the economy part, which is the real headline. The devs say Operations mode was too profitable, limiting their ability to increase open-world rewards. Their words: “The current Operations economy allows players to earn extremely high guaranteed income without significant risks or costs.” So they’re cutting it in two steps. First iteration, on September 2: fixed money reward reduced by 70%, reduced advanced parts, tools, and currency in the reward pool, and changed probabilities so Advanced Tools are less likely while Advanced Parts are more likely. Second iteration, planned for late September or early October: increase profitability in permanent open-world events.

There’s a bunch of other stuff too. Tasks display changed so side quests don’t replace the main quest, and you can see objectives simultaneously. Open world events that help with a quest get a special indicator. Subdivision Battles ranked season starts September 17 and runs to October 10. The Guide got tables, new Codex items like Cryomancer and SIX12 Trailblazers of the North, and expanded articles. Coliseum season tasks got adjusted—some tasks now count as one, and requirements increased for others.

Player profiles now let you add music from records, choosing any segment at least 1 second long. You can also display your current gear in the profile, with an option to hide it from other players. The in-game shop got a pack chain with Season Pass levels, Overdrives, Fishie Crates, and Night Stalks paint. There’s a new Superstitions styles pack with a creepy campfire quote: “I’ve seen a lot in my life, but something staring at me from the darkness…”

Balance changes hit grenades and attachments. Stinky grenades lost passive stopping power but now add Stability: -200%, meaning incoming shots have more stopping power. All buckshot and 12 Caliber Birdshot got their bonus spread reduced by half. 12 Caliber Hunting Round adds a 25% damage bonus to mutants. Barricade damage to structures went from x2 to x2.5. The Weight Tactical Grip got heavier, lost some ergonomics and sway reduction, but now reduces vertical recoil by 15% and adds a speed penalty while aiming. Skyline MBC had its spread and recoil bonuses adjusted.

What this means for STALZONE players

The economy change is going to hurt casual players who relied on Operations. I fit that profile. I don’t always have time for long open-world runs, and Operations were a quick, safe way to make progress. Now I have to adapt or fall behind. The devs are explicit that this is a deliberate shift to make open-world activities more rewarding, but the timing gap between the nerf and the buff is concerning. If the open-world buff doesn’t materialize or isn’t enough, the player base could get frustrated.

I’m also watching how the Capper changes the sniper meta. A charge mechanic is unusual for this genre. It might be too situational, or it might become the new king of long-range engagements. The armor penetration at full charge is huge—that’s a direct counter to heavily armored players. But the 50% movement speed reduction while charging is a massive vulnerability. Smart players will bait shots and punish chargers.

The autumn weather and visual updates are nice, but they’re cosmetic. The real test is whether the economy rework achieves its goal of making open-world play more attractive. If it does, STALZONE becomes a richer game. If it doesn’t, we’ve lost a reliable income source for nothing. I’m cautiously optimistic, but I’ll be watching my bank balance closely over the next month.
