Once Human 3.0.5 Update Adds Storage Search, Dye Overhaul, and Portable Crafting

NetEase posted the full patch notes for the Once Human 3.0.5 update on September 2, 2026, and I’ve been digging through them. The headline features are a storage search tool, a massive fashion dye overhaul, and a new portable crafting system for RaidZone. I have thoughts.

Storage search is the kind of quality-of-life change that makes me wonder how I ever lived without it. I’ve spent too many nights clicking through crate after crate looking for one specific component. The patch notes say you can now type a keyword into storage crates and terminals to find what you need. That alone might get me to log back in and reorganize my base.

The dye system changes caught my eye more than I expected. They’re adding indicator icons to show which fashion items support custom dye, and a batch management option under the fashion set tab. That last part sounds like it could fix the tedium of dyeing each piece separately. The update also lists twenty-four fashion sets getting custom dye support, from Tradewind Ace to Black Rhinoceros. If you’ve been waiting to recolor a favorite outfit, this is probably your patch.

What the 3.0.5 update actually includes

The maintenance starts at 4:00 PM PT on September 2 and is expected to last about two hours. All players get Starchrom ×1,000, Mitsuko’s Mark ×100, a Stardust Secret Crate: S14 (Epic), and Colorful Badge ×30 afterward. The update sizes vary by platform: PC launcher is about 11.50 GB, PS5 launcher 13.65 GB, Xbox launcher 17.6 GB, and mobile around 1.7 GB. NetEase says the larger packages are because they’re pre-loading map resources for an upcoming scenario in stages.

The storage search feature works on storage crates and storage terminals. You enter a keyword and it locates matching items across your crates. No more manual rummaging. That’s the entire description, and honestly, that’s all I need to hear.

The fashion dye upgrade is more detailed. Besides the indicator icons and batch management, they’ve added a “Simple Mode” for full body dye. Turning off Expert Mode lets you dye the currently selected part as a whole. They also added glove section partitioning for five sets: Tideborn Dream, Stellar Elite, Midnight Kiss, Gilded Summer, and Stardust Mayfly. The patch notes list all twenty-four sets getting custom dye support, and they say more will come in batches.

RaidZone gets portable crafting. Items that previously required a campsite can now be crafted from your backpack. The entry is in your backpack, and the operation is the same as a workbench. Campsites still work as respawn points and cooking areas. The notes say this feature will come to other modes later.

Custom servers get a new “Excellent” host level for hosts with an average daily engagement score of 200–599 per month. That grants a free 30-day server renewal. There’s also a host incentive event from September 2–29, and a challenge event from September 3–16 where entering three custom servers earns an “Avatar: Prayer.”

The shop adds the Lightforge Loot Crate: Duskfire Breaker, with a legendary vehicle skin, fashion set, group action, backpack cosmetic, and melee weapon skin. A new Rare Fashion Set called “Renegade Era” and a “Pure White Courtyard” facility cosmetic collection are also coming. The next update is scheduled for September 16 at 4:00 PM PT.

What this means for players

Storage search is a direct response to a pain point every survival player knows. The fact that it’s coming alongside a big pre-load for a new scenario suggests NetEase is trying to smooth out the experience before dropping new content. I’m cautiously optimistic.

The dye system overhaul feels like a proper expansion, not a half-measure. Adding twenty-four sets at once is a lot, and the batch management could genuinely change how people coordinate outfits. I want to see how the indicator icons work in practice, but the intent is clear.

Portable crafting in RaidZone is the change I’m most curious about. It removes a layer of friction during exploration, but I wonder if it’ll make campsites feel less necessary. The notes say campsites remain for respawning and cooking, so maybe it’s fine. I’ll have to test it myself.

One thing that stands out: the update is huge on PC and consoles because of pre-loaded map resources. That tells me the next scenario isn’t far off, and NetEase is trying to avoid a massive download right when it launches. Smart move, even if it means a big patch now.

I’m not blown away by the shop additions, but the Lightforge crate has a legendary vehicle skin, which some players will chase. The custom server events are a nice touch for hosts, though I doubt most players will engage with them deeply.

Overall, 3.0.5 feels like a utility patch with a few flashy extras. The storage search and dye changes are genuinely useful, and portable crafting could shift how RaidZone plays. I’ll be logging in after maintenance to see if the search feature works as smoothly as it sounds.
