STALZONE Reworks Loot and Rewards Across the Open World

STALZONE: Memories of STALCRAFT: X posted a big open world economy update on September 28, 2026, and I’ve been waiting for this one. The game’s loot loop has felt off for a while now, and this update targets exactly the things I’ve been frustrated with: junk rewards, pointless caches, and protoartifacts that don’t respect where you found them.

My first reaction is relief. The devs admit that event rewards in the Faction North “don’t feel valuable enough” and that caches are “extremely unprofitable and even dangerous.” That’s honest. I’ve stopped bothering with caches entirely because they force you to put your weapon away for a pile of garbage. The new jackpot mechanic might change that. I’m also glad they’re fixing protoartifact progression—I have legendary protoartifacts in my stash and no memory of where they came from, just like they said.

But I’m cautious. Economy reworks can swing too far in the other direction. They say they’ll “carefully monitor” protoartifact values to avoid devaluing the economy, but we’ve heard that before. And the repair cost changes make me nervous—repair costs are already a sore spot for a lot of players, and “clearer calculation model” could mean anything.

What the Update Actually Changes

The update is a full pass on the open-world economy. For the Faction North, event rewards get reworked: new items for sale, existing items get larger stack sizes, lower weight, and higher value. That means less inventory clutter and more profit per extraction. Outpost rewards are also being adjusted—items sold to Arsenal become more convenient, but Arsenal reputation gain stays roughly the same.

The Abandoned Installation, Arthunters, and Scientists events are getting their contents reworked to match the activity type. Caches in the Faction North get significantly increased rewards, with items that take up fewer slots and weigh less. And then there’s the jackpot mechanic: the more dangerous the location, the higher the chance of hitting a jackpot. Gold NPC events especially benefit from this.

Faction containers are losing junk items and getting a higher average income. The South’s loot pool is being adjusted to match its challenge level and stop overlapping with northern rewards. The Wild North gets minor updates to keep progression consistent: South → Faction North → Wild North.

Protoartifacts are getting location-based progression. Right now you can farm them at roughly the same rate in the South as in the North, which is why the northern Proto-Discharge Cluster and Anomalous Rift events are unpopular. The update makes northern territories the real source for rare protoartifacts. They’re also reviewing repair costs to create a clearer model based on gear type, tier, caliber, and other parameters.

What This Means for Farming Runs

If you’re a solo farmer like me, this changes where you go and what you pick up. The Faction North finally becomes worth the risk. Higher-value loot, lighter items, and jackpot chances on gold events mean a full backpack extracts for more rubles. Caches stop being a trap—you might actually want to search one now, especially in dangerous areas where the jackpot chance is higher.

The protoartifact change is the biggest shift. No more farming legendaries in the South. If you want rare protoartifacts, you’re heading north, and that means dealing with the Proto-Discharge Cluster and Anomalous Rift events. Those were dead content for most players, and now they’re the only real source. I expect more PvP around those events, which could be good or bad depending on your squad size.

Repair costs are the wildcard. They say it’s not about removing money from the economy, but a new calculation model could raise costs for some gear. I’ll be watching my repair bills after this update drops. If armor repairs get more expensive, that cuts into the profit from all these other changes.

One more thing: old junk items may be removed and compensated with rubles. Details are coming later on social media. I’m holding onto my junk for now—no point selling it if they’re going to give me rubles anyway.
